We met up with Dana and Nick at the Orpheum early on a Saturday morning. We went from there and ran around Madison’s State St making some photographs of the two of them. Tons of fun to work with, check out some of the photos from the day:
Simon and I woke up very early to meet Kerry and Ben down by the Calatrava addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum. We wanted to catch the morning light, and it was so worth getting up a few minutes earlier than normal…
I really love when I am going through proofs and making my selections, when it is really hard to narrow things down because there are so many good shots. That is what happened here. I think it was because of the light as well as the willingness of Kerry and Ben to relax and have fun… It made for some fantastic photographs…

Simon and I had an engagement session with Vanessa and Drew the other weekend. It was a bit rainy, but we took a break and came back later in the day, only to find a whole new day in front of us. We had a fabulous time exploring the fields and park… Both Vanessa and Drew had a great style and energy, and they fit together very well. So comfortable with each other, which helps when making photographs. Enjoy this selection of mine from the day.
Valo Photography shot another engagement session this weekend, with the wonderful and lovely couple Abby and Andrew. I have known Abby for a while, so it was extra fun to get together for this shoot, catch up and make some wonderful images. Abby and Andrew have an infectious love for each other, one that radiates, one that is visible from a mile away. Their laughter and playfulness was so much fun to work with. Thank you Abby and Andrew for letting Valo Photography be part of your wedding.

Sometime the weather does not cooperate with you when you have an outdoor shoot. Sometimes it works out well and you are able to find someplace to shoot, and sometimes you have a little more luxury and can re-schedule. About 15 minutes into our morning shoot this morning, it started raining. In this case the couple, Vanessa and Drew, were willing to reschedule and try the shoot again later tonight. Hopefully the sun will come out and allow us to have a wonderful shoot…

Ebony and Tope are a lovely couple, so very much in love, located up in Minneapolis Minnesota. It is so much fun working with people like this, so nice and friendly. Smiles were never ending, and there was a warm feel in the air (even though it was a little cool out). I learned a lot about culture as well, as Tope told us stories of Nigeria, and how things are very different there… One of my favorite stories was when he was talking about the difference between pants and trousers… There pants means underwear and trousers are slacks. This was funny because Simon commented on Tope’s pants. Simon – “Nice pants” Tope’s thought – “How did he see my underwear”… There are many differences in the cultures between the US and Nigeria, but a few things are the same, humor and love.
