I am a little tired as I write this post tonight. So it is going to be short. Emmanuel, Simon and I ran about Milwaukee a while back, making some images, and having a good time. One of my favorite parts about photography is the people you get to meet and interact with, being that other photographers, creatives, models, clients, or people you meet on the street… It is so enjoyable to meet and work with new people. So here is Emmanuel…

Photo of the week | March 28 2009 | Emmanuel

So I have been going back and forth about the “Photo of the week”. The more I read and listen to people about business, the more I hear that blogs and sites should only be about a specific thing. So in my case the blog and the site should only be about one thing, a narrow focus into photography, such as wedding photography. So I took a break from the photo of the week, and was concentrating on focusing 100% of my thoughts on wedding photography. But the more I think about it, the more I really love the photo of the week. I love having something to share each week, and I love having something different to do and share… So I think I am going to keep the photo of the week going. I am going to try and make this blog a bit diverse, since I love to shoot a wide range of subjects. I think it will show a larger spectrum of what I do. Our main site will be a bit more focused, but here on the blog, I am going to roam a little, post things I love, things I am working on… Including the “Photo of the week…” So with all that being said, here is this weeks photo:

Emmanuel
Milwaukee, WI

This weeks shot comes from a shoot that Simon and I did last weekend with Emmanuel. We wandered the streets of Milwaukee and created some nice images. I am currently editing the shoot, so look out for some more of Emmanuel soon…

Let me know what you think about the “Photo of the week” I would be interested to hear what people thought? Should I keep it up?

Simon McConico and Jacob Rohde start Valo Photography. A new venture full of excitement.

So I was looking over at my partner Simon McConico’s blog, and saw that he was talking a bit about the company and how we met. So I took a look back at some old photographs and I think I found a photo from our first meeting:

There he is in the back left corner of the photo. Also in this shot are good friends Paul Sparks (front left) and Chris Hemmerly (back right)

As Simon mentioned in his blog, we met at a local photographer get together coined the “Cream City Photo Walks”. They are a ton of fun, and there is always someone new to meet. If you live in the Milwaukee area, you should check it out. Every month we meet, talk, photograph, walk a bit, maybe have a drink, and always have a blast. More details can be found at the Flickr group page for Cream City Milwaukee Wisconsin.

I am very excited to be working with Simon in this new venture. It will be fun and challenging. I think our pure love for the art of photography will see us both through any challenge we have. The air feels fresh and clean, full of kinetic motivation.

Welcome to Jake Rohde's blog on Valo Photography.

Welcome to my blog on Valo Photography. My name is Jake Rohde and I am half owner of Valo Photography. Through this blog and our website, we hope to show you just how different Valo Photography is, and how the quality and service you will receive from us is better than any other source. Whether you are looking for a wedding photographer, an event photographer, someone to shoot a portrait session, stock photos, fine art photography, or something else, you will find it all here at Valo Photography. If you are looking for something specific, and you don’t see it on our site, or on either of our blogs, let us know and we can probably handle it. We also know a lot of people in the photography, design, development, and social world, so we could also refer you to someone if what you are looking for does not fit with what we do.

Take a look around and also visit my partners blog here: Simon McConico

Thanks,
