I did not know Tom Bur, nor did I ever have the chance to meet him. However, if the character of a man can show in his children, then he was truly a great man. I have had the honor to know his children and grandchildren, and call them family for just over two years now. The family he left behind are all amazingly beautiful people in heart, mind and spirit. They all possess a passion for life that must have been instilled in them by Tom.
Tom was an Air Force Veteran, and last Tuesday we gathered to honor his service, and in memory salute him as he looks down upon us. Sue Perse, daughter of Tom, and my mother-in-law, asked me to capture the memorial in photographs. I was happy to do so.

Mr Simon McConico and I met up with Lilly and her mom in the heart of some crazy Milwaukee summer festival traffic/lots of people. We wanted to shoot a little down by Lake Michigan, and then head out and shoot some urban scenes. Anyone from Milwaukee knows how crazy the Lakefront gets in summer. We finally got to a meeting spot and didn’t waste any time… the light was perfect, golden, and waiting for us. Lilly was a lot of fun to work with, and her mom was very cool as well. I think Simon hit the nail on the head with this quote: “If I didn’t have to eat, I would do this for free”. So very true…
