2009 has been such a great year, and 2010 is going to be even better. 2010 is the year to “Go BIG or go home”… I don’t want to “go home” just yet, so I think I will go big. 2010 will be an interesting year for Valo. It is already shaping up that way, and I can’t wait. Keep your eyes peeled here on my blog and on Simon’s blog…
So, the first blog post of the year is a big one. The super fun wedding of Cassie and Shawn. Simon and I shot their wedding last year at the Eisner Museum, in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee Wisconsin. I knew their wedding was going to be fun after shooting an engagement session with them… Just all around fun, easy going, fashionable and good looking people…

Krista and Matt got married at the Milwaukee War Memorial right next to the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM). It was a great setting, a great day, and a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to be there shooting with my man Mr Simon McConico. I love photographing weddings, check out some of the pictures I made:
OK, so I could not resist, there are a ton of photos below, I just could not hold myself back. Christina and Rob’s Villa Terrace wedding was amazing! Beautiful weather, beautiful people, handmade everything (even the flowers were handmade paper flowers), and to top it all off… a DeLorean DMC, decked out in all the trimmings, including a “functional” Flux Capacitor. I knew this was going to be an amazing wedding when Simon and I met with Christina and Rob a couple months ago at the Villa Terrace. We walked around, chatted about their day, walked down to the gardens, and then Christina tip-toed back to tell us about her surprise DeLorean gift; when she told us that, we knew this was going to be a special wedding. She had the car pull up during the wedding ceremony, and he saw it for the first time right before they left for the reception.

I often think about fortune, about what it means; is it just a monetary value? To me it is not. To me fortune has nothing to do with money, wealth, material possessions, vanity, or anything of the sort. When I really think about it, fortune is happiness. Fortune is something different to everyone, since happiness comes in so many different forms. I do think, however, that Abby and Andrew have found their fortune in each other. Their love is obvious, infectious, and fun. They are so happy around each other, so free, so open. It was an amazing day, and because it was so amazing, I am going to have to make a 2 part post. I could not pick just a few photos to share from this day.
Another reason this 2 part post is so long is that I got to spend almost the whole day with Abby and Andrew, which is a treat. I usually do not get the luxury to spend a whole day with a couple. Yes, it is more work, but since there is more time spent, there are many more opportunities to create a photograph. It also allows a more complete story to be captured, from the nervous looks and sighs while getting ready right down to the dancing at the end of the night…

What can I say about Holly and Chad… A lot, they are a ton of fun and so very much in love… buuuut, instead of me going on about how wonderful they are, check out some images from their wedding day:
I have known Abby for a while, so I was very honored that her and her now husband Andrew choose Valo Photography as their wedding photographers. For this little sneak peek at the wedding, I thought I would post some getting ready shots. I love when I can be with the couple all day, it lets everyone that is in the wedding warm up to me, it lets me meet all the brides maids and grooms men early on, that way later in the day they know me a little better… Another reason I love being there for the whole day is that the before hand photos tell the beginning of the story for the day, they set the stage, if you will. And lastly, the groom gets to see his bride, and the bride gets to check out the groom… They get to see each others nervous laughs and gestures and see what their other half was doing before the wedding… Anyways, enough talking, here are some before shots of Abby and Andrew:
Christina and Brent were married in Minneapolis, and Simon and I were lucky enough to be there to photograph their day. Extremely fun wedding, tons of smiles, laughing non-stop, party buses, jumps in the park, dancing, partying, dancing and more partying…
