Rebecca and Brandon’s wedding = Vintage DIY Fun. Rebecca and Brandon are both out in Cali, but Becca is from Wisconsin. I loved all the details and time the family put into this wedding. Becca is a designer, and she made most of the details such as the centerpieces, guest cards/game books, signs, and needlepoint table numbers… yeah AWESOME! All the flowers were done by the fabulous greenthumbs of Becca’s mother. Just one look at her yard, and you wouldn’t even blink at that task… seriously, I wondered how she had time to do anything else but keep up with all the beautiful landscaping around the house. Seriously beautiful. On top of all the DIY details, the bridal party was super chill, and a lot of fun. A lot of the guys were from out in Cali too, so there was for sure a Cali vibe reverberating throughout the day. Super chill. And even better than that, the light was so good throughout the day. We shot a lot out back of their home, got to stop by Becca’s favorite vintage store; Dime a Dance, and then had the opportunity to work at The Rotunda in Waukesha again. I really like that space. The only snag in the day is when Simon and I tried to park… and the parking structure only took cash… What’s that about, who carries cash? Neither of us… so there we were, sitting at the front of a long line of cars without money, and no one working at the structure. The car behind us was kind enough to lend us $2 to park, so all was ok, and we could get back to work.

Erinn and Andy’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. They were married at one of my favorite venues, the Villa Terrace, and had their reception at a place I have never photographed before, the Womans Club of Wisconsin. Simon and I had two weddings this day, so I called my first choice second shooter and good friend Paul Sparks to shoot with me for the day. It was great to work with Paul again.

I got a little carried away with this one, and I think this is going to be my longest blog post ever… so put your seat belt on and enjoy the ride:

An oldie but goodie… a wedding from last year in Door County, Wisconsin. Another wedding that didn’t make it to my blog… Some of you may have seen some of these images over on Simon’s blog, as he did have time to make a post about the wedding. I wanted to share the images again, along with mine, to give an even better picture of the day… to tell the whole story, if you will. To sum up this wedding in one word: Happy. Anna was the happiest bride I have ever had the chance to meet and photograph. The friends and family that filled the Astor Hotel were also the happiest people I have ever seen. It was a splendid happy day, from start to finish.

To try and sum up Stephanie and Kyle’s wedding in a couple words, I would have to say: Elegantly Simple. And by simple, I do not mean it was easy to put together… on the contrary, sometimes minimal simplicity is the hardest thing to pull off. But they did it, from the minimal color palette, Stephanie’s amazing dress, the suits the guys wore, right down to the locations we shot at and their final reception location at the Monona Terrace in Madison. Everything reflected their personal style so well, and you can tell, because they both had perma-smiles the whole day, fitting in to their surrounding as if they did this professionally (I assure you, they don’t. This was the first time they got married to each other… go figure).

Grabbed a couple clips from Becca and David’s wedding as we were photographing it. Key moments were photographed… as we did not have anyone dedicated to shoot video… However, I have been wanting to make more films, so I tried to capture the essence of the day in video anyways… So I made this super secret surprise for Becca and David… their wedding film:
