Sarah and Tyler – Milwaukee Engagement

I have been friends with Sarah for quite a while. We met through mutual friends, I believe at a campfire? All I know is it was many years ago. When Sarah first contacted me, it was just to let me know that she was engaged. Later she contacted me again to inquire on hiring Valo to shoot her wedding. I was very stoked to hear Sarah and Tyler wanted to hire me to shoot their wedding. If there is one thing I like more than photographing a wedding, it is photographing a friends wedding.

The engagement session you are about to look at (hopefully, that is if you are still reading this… I usually skip ahead to the photos and then come back to read stuff) was a TON of fun. The locations were very cool, thanks to the scouting of Tyler. I got a lot of emails from them leading up to their engagement session of other e-sessions they had found around the Internet, photos from a scouting mission Tyler went on, and a lot of thoughts on location. This was great, because it let me see a little of what they were thinking of, and it made smile every time I got one of their emails, because I could tell how excited they were. When a couple is very excited about shooting, it makes my level of excitement rise as well. And so it kept amplifying, until we met up at Alterra and started shooting… Here is what I created on a perfect day, with a great couple…

Cream City Milwaukee Wisconsin Photowalk April 17, 2010

CC:MKE April 2010 Photowalk from Jake Rohde on Vimeo.

Every month a group of photographers and photo enthusiasts all get together for what is called a photowalk. We all met online many years ago on the site called Flickr, and have been doing a monthly photowalk for a while now (I think 2 years)… I think it is very important, no matter what you are doing, to get yourself around other like minded people, and share. That is what I love about these walks; sharing, learning, and just having a little bit of fun. I shot a little video at our destination meet-up “Miss Katie’s Diner”. A little behind the scenes of one of the walks… enjoy.
