I have known Abby for a while, so I was very honored that her and her now husband Andrew choose Valo Photography as their wedding photographers. For this little sneak peek at the wedding, I thought I would post some getting ready shots. I love when I can be with the couple all day, it lets everyone that is in the wedding warm up to me, it lets me meet all the brides maids and grooms men early on, that way later in the day they know me a little better… Another reason I love being there for the whole day is that the before hand photos tell the beginning of the story for the day, they set the stage, if you will. And lastly, the groom gets to see his bride, and the bride gets to check out the groom… They get to see each others nervous laughs and gestures and see what their other half was doing before the wedding… Anyways, enough talking, here are some before shots of Abby and Andrew:
Bai was a ton of fun to work with. She was looking for something different, something a little rock star… Wanting something a little bit different, I thought I would play around with some heavy edits. Playing with light mixed with some post processing. This is way more than I usually do with a photograph, and it was more for fun than anything… The rest will probably be more photographic, and less post, but I thought I would share my experiment here.

This weeks photo of the week is of my wife, Catherine. She came along on a Minnesota weekend for a wedding, and on the way back we stopped at a couple places to take some photographs. She is a great sport, always allowing me to photograph her when I feel like it… Anyways, another thing about this photo is that the more I photograph the more I lean towards natural looking images in both color and black and white. My post processing is becoming more just about the color or the tones in a black and white image… and less about crazy photoshop actions or styles. I believe a good color or black and white photograph are timeless, while stylized photographs may look antiquated sometime in the future? So, enjoy this image of my wife Catherine…
