It is late, and I was just too excited to post these images until morning… So what can I say? Gwynne and Eric are awesome, and they have an even awesomer little girl. I met Gwynne back in design school and when she was telling me about her wedding I knew it would be fantastic. When she asked me if I would photograph the wedding, I was ecstatic! Being friends on Facebook, I got to see all the details come together as we got closer to the wedding day… each little detail done (most done by the hands of Gwynne herself) I got more excited for the wedding day. The ceremony took place at the fabulous Villa Terrace and the reception at the cool MOCT down in the Third Ward. They also had a pretty awesome Crazy Booth at MOCT… check that out over here… clickity click
The day was wonderful, and here are a few of my favs:

Erinn and Andy’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. They were married at one of my favorite venues, the Villa Terrace, and had their reception at a place I have never photographed before, the Womans Club of Wisconsin. Simon and I had two weddings this day, so I called my first choice second shooter and good friend Paul Sparks to shoot with me for the day. It was great to work with Paul again.
I got a little carried away with this one, and I think this is going to be my longest blog post ever… so put your seat belt on and enjoy the ride:

Before we head off to WPPI (a large photography conference and trade-show) to learn a bunch of new things, and check out some new products, here is another wedding from last year.
Courtny and Stephen had a small wedding and reception at the Villa Terrace in Milwaukee, WI. These two are perfect for each other. They both have such a wonderful sense of humor. Just seeing them laugh together is infectious, and makes your day just a little better.

Aliza and Matthew are a great couple from Los Angeles, California, who were getting married here in Milwaukee. A Hollywood wedding in Wisconsin so to speak, and Simon and I were lucky enough to spend the day with them, making photographs. I put together a slideshow of images from there wedding, which they could use at a party they were throwing in Los Angeles. Since a lot of the people at the party were not at the wedding, I wanted to make sure there were a ton of photographs in the slideshow, so that people who were not there could get a real good taste of the day. So I warn you, the slideshow below has a lot of photographs in it…
If you can’t see the slideshow for some reason, check it out here: http://vimeo.com/15380299
Now there are a couple reasons why I wanted to share this slideshow here on the blog.
- I wanted to show you what more of a wedding looked like. This is not all the images from the wedding, but beyond the ones we share here on the blogs usually. I thought, since hopefully there are brides to be looking at this blog, that you might want to see a little more of one wedding.
- I needed to get them a DVD slideshow before their party… So, since time was an issue with this project I did not have the bandwidth to fully retouch every photo in the slideshow. In fact, non of the images are fully retouched. All the images in the slideshow are proof images. Why would I want to call this out? We always want our clients to know that their proof DVD are proofs, and not fully retouched photographs. However, not everyone understands the difference between a proof and a fully retouched photo. As you can see from the slideshow, our proofs are all great images, ones that are perfectly usable, printable, and shareable.
- If all the proofs are good images, then why would I want retouched images? That answer is pretty easy. Our fully edited and retouched images are just that much better. We dive into each photograph, mask out areas, touch up skin, get rid of misc items that might be distracting… Basically we take a good image and make it great. This is important especially if you are ordering large prints. In a large print, you start to see things that you may not have seen in a 4×6 or online. And since a large print is usually hung in a prominent place, you want it to be as perfect as it can be.
- The last reason I wanted to share this slideshow with you, is because I love sharing the work we do at Valo. This slideshow is a mix of both Simon’s work and my own.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the wedding, the proofs, or anything else.
On another note: Plain New York Style Cheesecake is amazing. Probably my favorite food item in the world.

OK, so I could not resist, there are a ton of photos below, I just could not hold myself back. Christina and Rob’s Villa Terrace wedding was amazing! Beautiful weather, beautiful people, handmade everything (even the flowers were handmade paper flowers), and to top it all off… a DeLorean DMC, decked out in all the trimmings, including a “functional” Flux Capacitor. I knew this was going to be an amazing wedding when Simon and I met with Christina and Rob a couple months ago at the Villa Terrace. We walked around, chatted about their day, walked down to the gardens, and then Christina tip-toed back to tell us about her surprise DeLorean gift; when she told us that, we knew this was going to be a special wedding. She had the car pull up during the wedding ceremony, and he saw it for the first time right before they left for the reception.
So anyways, enough of my talking, check out some images from the Villa Terrace Wedding:

Don’t forget to take a look at Simon’s photos from the day over on his blog…
Check out the Villa Terrace as well. Amazing place for a wedding ceremony.
