Maren and Craig – Wisconsin Club – Wedding

This was a super fun and beautiful wedding that we got to shoot last year at the Wisconsin Club in Downtown Milwaukee. Maren and Craig were a lot of fun to photograph and the day was absolutely amazing.

Jamey Johnson – Creative Coaching

So… my homie Jamey is working on launching a new Creative Coaching network and he needed some shots. I have known him for what feels like forever and am excited about the new direction he is taking his skills. Super cool guy who writes about leadership, following, and spirituality. Check his blog out here: BLOG and check out his photos below.

Courtny and Stephen – E-Session

Trouncing around the Third Ward is always a good idea. Well, unless it is raining or snowing or uncomfortably hot…Either way, the Cream City brick and all of the wonderful buildings make such great backdrops for photos. Courtny and Stephen were all about running around the Thrid Ward and they were laughing and joking the whole time… well, Stephen was. Stephen is a bit silly and so naturally we clicked right away. Here are a few photos of their e-session and I will have up some photos of their lovely wedding very soon.

Caitlin – Senior – 2011

Caitlin is awesome. I was able to take her brothers senior photos a few years back and he was awesome (probably still is). Pretty sure their parents are awesome as well.

Anyoldways.  Here are some photos, which is why you clicked on the link, stumbled on the blog, saw it in your stream any ways. Boom.

Halloween Crazy Booth

I haven’t dressed up or went to a party for Halloween for quite a while. Last time I remember doing that was when I went as a pumpkin  in like 4th grade. Well, at least trick-or-treating.

One of my friends had a party and invited me to come over and I thought to myself… “Halloween party, Costumes, Crazy People… The Crazy Booth would be perfect.” And so I brought it along and rocked some super fun photos! Check them out:

I thought he was the Minecraft guy, but in fact, he was a Chilean Miner. Humpf.

Good ole Third Wheel

If you dont know what this costume is, you need to watch THIS first and then THIS:

You can see them all here: WooOOoo!!

Erin and Dave – Wedding – Gesu

This is the wedding story in which I almost lost my 85mm 1.2 lens and a church lost its window:

Well, those things really have nothing to do with the wedding story, but they do have to do with the wedding day. Erin is awesome. She has a Masters. Yeah, that makes her awesome. Dave works putting out fires. Literally, he isn’t in HR.

I first met Erin at the Marquette coffee shop, the Brew Bayou. She graduated from there and then went to Boston to work on her Masters. She was in town and we chatted about wedding plans and her day. They decided that they wanted Valo to rock their wedding, so the planning and waiting began. Finally it was the day of the wedding and we got a chance to meet Dave.

What can I say about Dave? It is always interesting meeting someone for the first time on one of the most important days of their lives. He, like Nick in my previous blog, instantly struck me as a very awesome and kind guy. Perfect for Erin. Oh, and did I say that he laughs a lot? Because he does and it was awesome.

Any old ways… The wedding was at Gesu, a fantastic church on the Marquette campus. There is normally a huge stain glass window in the back of it, but it was out for cleaning. Super sad, but either way, there was tons of light pouring into the church and that made me happy. After they got hitched we went out on the Marquette campus and rocked some photos there. We were about to leave when I realized that I was missing a lens. A lens? No… THE lens. I was missing my 85mm 1.2 (In layman’s terms, I had somehow misplaced my child). I went back into the church and they were having mass… crap. I talked with one of the ushers and he hadn’t found it. Mass was almost over and when it finished they helped me look up and down the pews for it. Nothing. Ugh. My heart fell into my shoes and tumbled down the steps into the street where it was ran over by an old rusty bus.

I was ready to go, when a lady walked up to me and said, “I think you are looking for this” and handed me the lens!!! Score!!! My life was better and I was ready to rock the reception!

The reception was awesome. Everyone from her college friends to her god mother were tearing up the dance floor. Which, that is my favorite part. We danced and photographed and danced some more. We had to leave eventually and were ready for a nap! Check out these photos to this long story.

There is one in every wedding party… Always.

Scott – Senior – 2011

Awe yeah. Scott. Nothing like a cool cat that knows karate. We grabbed his weapons and ran around the fifth ward in Milwaukee to shoot his senior photos. No boring letter jackets here… Got nothin against letter jackets… they are just boring.

Cody – Senior – 2010

Cody and I have an interesting story. Oconomowoc High School is where he is from, which isn’t that close to Milwaukee. My lovely friend Cassie Brooks, who’s wedding we shot last September, is a teacher there and Cody saw some of her wedding photos and knew where he wanted to get his photos taken.

He came down to Milwaukee and we rocked the session. It was awesome. And then. Well. I lost his photos. That has NEVER happened to me before. NEVER. I felt so terrible. I am not sure exactly what happened, but I don’t know if I have ever felt so incompetent as a photographer as I did then. I contacted him and let  him know about his photos and that we would refund him if he wanted. His response to me was this, “Crap happens, and there is no where else that I would want to take my photos.”

Cut to round 2. We rocked the same locations and the same clothes and lighting struck twice. I think we got even better photos then before and, Mr. Cody, I hope these were worth the head ache I gave you.

Dana – Senior

Dana is a super cool gal who came to Valo after her first senior photos didn’t work out so well. Hope these turned out a bit better ;)

Erin – Senior – 2010

Soooo many seniors. Soooo many awesome people. I have one of the coolest jobs ever and get to photograph and chat with so many great folks. Erin and I chatted a bit about concerts, driving, and getting done with school. She had some great style and we got some super fun photos in the 5th ward of Milwaukee.
