My wife amazes me. I have been married for just under a year and I am finding more and more reasons to be in love with my wife. She has so many strengths that I do not have. That may cause things to be uncomfortable at times, but, like a strength trainer, she helps me grow in those areas. She prods me along and encourages me when I need it. I know that I can always get an honest answer from her and that she doesn’t dance around things. She has never stole my heart, but I sure as heck have let her have it for as long as she wants.
This last year has been a growing year for us at Valo and I know that Jake and I could not have done it without our wives. It isn’t Valentines day, it isn’t her birthday, and it isn’t our anniversary. It is just a regular day and regular days are days that people need reminding how much they affect and effect you. I love you babe and am so glad you are in my life.
This year for my birthday my wife took me to New York for a birthday that I will never forget. We saw a show on Broadway, we ate pizza, and we took the subway. It was so much fun and while I am prone to not take photos on any type of vacation with my big camera, my iphone was snapping away. Here are a few photos from our trip to NY.
I know I have mentioned this before, but we truly do have the best brides and grooms ever. So many of them keep in touch with us, send us holiday cards, and chat with us on facebook. Sarah and Kevin are for sure one of those couples. They were married in Madison at the Orpheum Theater about a year ago and we had the pleasure of documenting their day for them.
We never got to do an engagement session for them so instead we decided to do a photo shoot after the wedding for them. They came down to Milwaukee and we went out to Doctors Park on the lake front and ran around in their wedding best taking photos. There were a ton of great ones, but here are a few that I chose.
Pretty sure Jake’s Middle name needs to be Bear Grylls
Check out my man Ryan’s senior photos. He plays for the same team as Stu, who Jake shot just a little while back . We rocked photos out in West Bend and suffered though the mosquitos and warm weather.
Oh snap. The Crazy was broughten at Mackenzie and Paul’s wedding. I didn’t have the pleasure of shooting the whole even, that honor was given to Anna from Anna Page Photography and I have no doubt the photos rock! Jake and I were shooting Vanessa and Drew’s wedding during the day and then after I scooted to Cuvee to drop some booth action on the party that was well underway.
I got set up and Mackenzie’s Mom brought over a bucket of props and the guest got to work. About midway through my time there the door busted open and out popped the UW Madison Marching band. They were rockin the crowd so hard that I needed to strap on my flash and get some photos. If your a UWM grad, I would highly suggest getting them to come and play at your wedding. So much fun.
Rock on ->
The man and lady of the evening:
And then the band:
P.s. This was catered by Lee John’s Catering and they were super fun to work with for the little bit that I was there. Oh yeah, and they had chocolate covered cheesecake lolly pops. Delish.
Matt and Krista are awesome! It was so much fun shooting their wedding at the Milwaukee County War Memorial. The light was great, the people were fun, and the wedding was beautiful. Matt is a cancer survivor and friend and it was a great honor for me to document this day for him. Jake, Nicole, and I shot photos, danced a bit, and rocked the Crazy Booth all night long. Enjoy the images, you two are great!
Today I took some time out of my crazy schedule to chum it up with a bunch of local photographers at an event called PhotoCamp Milwaukee. It was a good time. Next time a PhotoCamp happens you should attend if you are in the Milwaukee area and interested in photography. Lots of learning happened and I even taught a session on using natural light for portraits. Good times. Here are some of the photos of the models I took:
It is starting to warm up here in Wisconsin. Starting to…
Jake and I got the privilege to be interviewed by Blake of actionstalk.com about our business. He interviews start up business and posts the interviews on the website. Blake is a real cool cat that we met at the Teecycle.org shoot. Our video should be up on his site sometime soon. I will post a link when it is up.
After our interview with Blake we had a shoot with a model named Emmanuel. It was a semi-nice day out and we ran around downtown Milwaukee. There are tons of great spots to shoot and so much character. We would walk just a few feet and have a new place to shoot.
We went over to North Ave. and there is a park that is newly built that overlooks the city. It was awesome durring sunset and we got some really great light.
I also messed around with a bit of video on this shoot and put together some of the clips that I shot. I still have a lot to learn about how to use this camera to its full potential and how to do video with it. This is only the third thing that I have had a chance to edit/record with the camera.
I am very excited for spring. I cant wait. Cant wait to get out and throw a frisbee. Cant wait to grill. But most of all, I cant wait to shoot photos outside!
I was just messing around with my new Canon 5d MkII the other day and put together this short video clip. Let me know what you think. I am excited about the possiblities…
